The general superintendent of the FAS, Virgilio Viana, received the title of Chancellor of the Brazilian Institute of Environmental Protection of Nature (IBDN), during the Fourth Latin American Conference of Environmental Conservation, in Manaus, no last day 15.

Virgilio Viana specializes in Amazon, climate change, Florestal management and Agroflorestal, environmental conservation, certification and sustainable development. He graduated in forestry engineering from Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (Esalq-USP), a PhD in evolutionary biology from Harvard University and did postdoctoral studies in sustainable development at the University of Florida.

On 2003, became the first Secretary of State for the Environment and Sustainable Development of Amazonas in the history of Government Eduardo Braga. In this role (2003-2008), coordinated the design and implementation of the Sustainable Development Program "Zona Franca Verde", Bolsa Floresta and the first Climate Change Act of Brazil. Neste period, deforestation was reduced by 70% and protected areas increased by more than 135%. He is currently Director General of the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation.

According to the President of the Brazilian Institute of Defense of Nature (IBDN), Roger Iório, certificates received by the channel are delivered only to companies and individuals who are committed to the environment.
