Delegation of Mozambique meets sustainability programs of the Amazon

Seven representatives of the government and environmental authorities of Mozambique met this week the action policies of the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS). During the days 29 August and 02 September, they were presented to state strategies to combat deforestation, the advances of conservation units and program of action of mechanisms Bolsa Floresta (BFP) no State.

Ministry of Agriculture technicians, Eduardo Mondlane University and Centro Terra Viva (CTV), environmental reference agencies in the African country, They met the Tumbira of Saqqara and communities, where they participated in a workshop of the Bolsa Floresta Association. On the occasion, members gave the education initiatives of the Conservation and Sustainability Center (CSC) Agnello Bittencourt Uchoa, on Sustainable Development Reserve (Reserve) Rio Negro.

Participated in the activities the general superintendent of FAS, Virgilio Viana, the head of the Department of Forestry of the State Center for Climate Change (CECLIMA), Rodrigo Freire, the head of the Department of Traditional Peoples State Center for Conservation Units (CEUC), Francisco Pinto, representantes da Schneider Electric, partner of FAS in training programs, besides the teacher Niro Higushi, the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA).

Cooperation Amazon-Mozambique

The visit is one of the results of FAS cooperation with the Ministry for Coordination of Environmental Action (MICOA) of Mozambique, in effect since 2009. The intention is to promote technical support and participation in the process of REDD in the African country.

The deputy national director of MICOA, Paula Panguene, It explains that the initiative is an open opportunity for the improvement of Mozambican environmental policies.

We too with the support of FAS and partner companies, in the effort to understand in a comprehensive manner the operation of the Bolsa Floresta and conservation units.
