Foundation will present case studies, and organizing and participating in various side events on issues in which is reference, such as REDD and PSA
The Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS), a non-profit institution, non-governmental, non-partisan political will take to Rio 20 practical examples of successful initiatives of Payment for Environmental Services (PES) and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation + Management and Forest Conservation (REDD ) that implements in Conservação Units (CUs) of the Amazonas State. The NGO promotes sustainable involvement, environmental conservation and improvement of quality of life of communities living in 15 CUs through the valuation of environmental products and services.
Among the cases that will be presented, no dia 17 at 14:00pm during the Corporate Sustainability Forum, innovations to work with the base of the pyramid, that will show through the partnership with Banco Bradesco, as banking services can contribute to improving the lives of communities in the Amazon. Also during the same event, no dia 18 June, at 9h, FAS will presentonase study on energy efficiency and to energy for riverside communities. This is the partnership with Schneider Electric to form electricians in communities where it operates and provide alternative energy to these communities. The event will take place at Windsor Guanabara Hotel — By. Presidente Vargas, 392, Downtown, RJ.
Also on June 18, but at night, from 19h to 20:30, FAS will present a case study conducted by Professor Simon Zadek, adviser to the World Economic Forum , on the proposed Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation + Management and Forest Conservation (REDD ) at the Juma reserve. The event will take place at Marriott Hotel Copacapana, network of hotels which is partner in the project.
Furthermore, Amazonas Sustainable Foundation will participate and organize various lectures and roundtables. Among those, a lecture on Green Economy and the Developing Countries, on 16 June, from 14h to 15:30, during the event "Fair Ideas ", organized by IIED (International Institute for Environment and Development) at PUC-RJ. Virgilio Viana, FAS CEO, will participate in two roundtable discussions on REDD and PES in Brazil.
On June 17, from 14h to 16h and from 17:30 to 19h,, respectively, FAS will participate in two side events. In the first, organize a conference in partnership with Google in the learning event, which also includes the participation of Imazon, to talk about the mapping tools of Google. In the second, in partnership with the Institute for Conservation and Sustainable Development of Amazonas (Idesam), the theme will be the South-South Cooperation, initiative that FAS has performed with other countries, such as Moçambique, which aims to exchange experiences and techniques on PES and REDD . In this event, will present the lessons learned and innovative initiatives already undertaken. Both events will take place at Riocentro, the learning event "SD Learning" will take place at room T-7, and the event on South-South Cooperation at the room P3A. Other lectures on forest code, the progress of the Bolsa Floresta program and the actions of FAS with children and young people are also part of the agenda.
