Agroecology students participate in activities in the RDS Rio Negro

In the days 26 a 30 September, the students of Technology Course in Agroecology, Campus Manaus East Zone (CMZL), do Instituto Federal do Amazonas (IFAM), They had the opportunity to perform, for the first time, a week of activities within the Sustainable Development Reserve (Reserve) Rio Negro. The activity was supported Program of Education and Health of Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS).

Part of Protected Areas Management course has been developed in the RDS Rio Negro in order to bring the students the reality of residents and managers of a Conservation Unit. The trip was made with the support of FAS, which provided the field of infrastructure for the development of practices.

Na RDS do Rio Negro, students had the opportunity to understand and relate to the challenges facing the implementation of conservation unit from its legal objectives and the practical reality; and develop skills for data collection aimed at analyzing the livelihoods of residents within a Conservation Unit. At the end of course, students will have structured a scientific work, based on the data collected.

This first practical experience in the RDS Rio Negro opens doors to consolidate a partnership between IFAM and FAS, enabling various courses and different fields the IFAM may develop practical activities located within protected areas in Amazonas state, as well as developing work and research of mutual interest.
