Amazon entrepreneur training program will be implemented by institutions in Brazil, Peru and Colombia

The Solutions Network for the Amazon Sustainable Development (SDSN Amazonia), done on days 17 until 19 Maio, We respectively Institutes of Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon (IIAP. Iquitos – Peru) and Amazon Institute for Scientific Research (Sinchi, Leticia – Colombia) the regional launch of the platform Solutions for Sustainable Development to countries of the Amazon Basin, o seminário “Training and small grants to support mitigation and adaptation to climate change Amazon” and achieved a successful partnership between the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) e o Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (Catie) which will benefit the people who are part of the Amazon basin.

The meeting promoted by SDSN Amazon had the support of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the United Nations Environment. Not find, near 22 representatives of various institutions in the environmental area were present on (17), in the city of Iquitos – Peru, the IIAP Institute for the regional launch of the Solutions platform for sustainable development in the countries of the Amazon Basin and the seminar “Training and small grants to support mitigation”.

They were at the time the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA), State University of Amazonas (UEA), Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS),Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), Promotion Fund of Protected Natural Areas of Peru (Profonanpe), Ministry of Environment of Peru, Amazónicos Association for the Amazon (AMPA),National University of the Peruvian Amazon (nap), Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon (IIAP) and Amazon Institute for Scientific Research (Sinchi).

Launch in Leticia, no Peru

On June (19) or institute Sinchi, located in Leticia – Colombia, He received the second launch of the Solutions Platform for Sustainable Development SDSN and the signing of the cooperation agreement between a member of the Amazon network SDSN: the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) or do Brasil and Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education (CATIE) from Costa Rica.

The meeting between the institutions was successful. In addition to the launch of the Solutions platform for sustainable development in the countries of the Amazon Basin, which focuses on promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDSN) in the region and also be a broadcast channel of new technologies, business models and policies that have transformative potential impact on sustainable development of the Amazon, collectively built a program aims to identify leaders who will become entrepreneurs in Amazonian Brazil, Peru and Colombia. The expected results through this program is to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDSN) so that there is the empowerment of men and women Amazon. The importance of this program in addition to empower, It is to make the Amazonian people have a better quality of life without needing to migrate to other locations.

Initially to program execution, It was established between representatives of the institutions that there will be an exchange ten students from each country: Ten Brazil, Ten Peru and ten of Colombia. Or Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education (CATIE) from Costa Rica, counting with other educational and research institutions will be responsible for providing academic knowledge via training courses and master course; the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) do Brasil, Amazon Institute for Scientific Research (Sinchi) Colombia, Research Institute of the Peruvian Amazon (IIAP) do Peru and to the Amazonia Association Amazon (AMPA) Also in Peru, will be responsible for logistical support throughout the development of the program. The program will finance the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and will feature other investment other funds for its execution.

CATIE

CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education) It is a regional center dedicated to research and graduate studies in agriculture, management, conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
