FAS is considered the best NGO of North Brazil, according to Época Magazine and Doar Institute

The Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) He was elected on Monday (07) one of the best non-governmental organizations in Brazil and the best of the North Region, according to the Season Award for Best NGO. The award was conducted by the magazine in partnership with the Institute Donate, and aimed to enhance the good national nonprofit examples.

When all, more than 1500 institutions from all regions of Brazil have signed up, between charities, civil society organizations, institutes and philanthropic foundations. They were covered by the initiative 100 institutions, among them the FAS. In the North, Foundation was voted best according to a jury by Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) e Instituto Only.

“Be awarded by the magazine season was a surprise we received with tremendous gratitude. It is something that fills us with joy and strength to continue to work towards developing and implementing solutions for sustainable development in the Amazon, both on the issue of poverty eradication and to the environmental agenda to reduce deforestation, that make up the FAS's mission”, emphasizes the general superintendent of FAS, Virgilio Viana.

The FAS is a nongovernmental Brazilian organization, nonprofit, created in 8 February 2008, with a mission to promote sustainable involvement, environmental conservation and improving the quality of life of coastal communities of the state of Amazonas.

The main initiatives are implemented through the Bolsa Floresta (BFP), Education and Health Program (PES), Innovative Solutions Program (PSI) and Management and Transparency Program (PGT).

On 2016, FAS watched 9.597 families, benefiting 40.230 people of residents 16 Conservation Units (UC) do Amazonas.
