Between 14 until 16 September takes place the first edition of the Fair Pirarucu and Tambaqui 2018, at the headquarters of the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS), Rua Álvaro Braga, 351, Parque Dez. Fish are caught directly from rivers and lakes of the East- Solimões, rural area of ​​Good Source (678km of Manaus), located within the Sustainable Development Reserve (Reserve) Mamirauá.

Will be available for direct sale to the consumer three and a half tons of fresh arapaima and a ton of tambaqui, having sustainable production authorized by the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) e Secretaria de Estado de Meio Ambiente (Sema), and supported by the Bolsa Floresta (BFP), por meio do Fundo Amazônia/BNDES. Prices range from $ 5 to R $ 18,00.

The actions seek to stimulate growth and control of Arapaima stocks in the lakes of Conservation Units (UC), in addition to directly support sustainable development within, explains Edvaldo Correa, Regional Coordinator of the Bolsa FAS forest in Solimões.

"When you buy fish direct from rivers, fully legalized, you are encouraging management in these areas and the social nature involved behind it. All families involved in fishing has the opportunity to develop and improve the quality of life of the region where they live, since usually the competition with illegal fish is very difficult ", concludes.

On Friday and throughout the weekend, the fair will run from 7 am to 18h (ou enquanto durarem os estoques). For the sale of Pirarucu, fillet cuts (R$ 18,00), whole blanket (R$ 15,00/kg), ventrecha (R$ 14,00) and housing (R$ 5,00). 80 tambaquis between 6kg (R$ 8,00) and 7kg on (R$ 13,00/kg) They will also be available to customers for sale. All profit from the fair will be reverted to the families of the RDS Mamirauá fishermen.

Fisherman Edson Souza explains that it is more advantage buying Community goods than elsewhere because prices. "We sell more account to be the direct producer to the consumer", says fisherman. "We usually have a middleman that charges the load, so it is more expensive ".

Edson also reveals that the community expects long this opportunity and want to continue doing the show. "They will realize that the main difference lies in the quality of the product. The fish comes with invoice and marketing guide, giving security to the consumer ", ensures.
