The fair, which has the support support of the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS), It was expected to take place until Sunday (16).

The idea of ​​the event is to promote the sale of fish directly from the fisherman, without middlemen, stimulating fair trade and community empowerment. All fish sold come from sustainable production and fish directly from rivers and lakes in the Middle Solimões region, in rural municipality of Fonte Boa, a 678 kilometers from Manaus, within the RDS Mamirauá.

These form the, all profit from the sale of fish at the fair is with the families of the RDS Mamirauá fishermen. The sale of fish has authorization from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) and the Secretary of State for the Environment (Sema), with support of the Bolsa Floresta (BPF), por meio do Fundo Amazônia/BNDES.

"We would like to thank everyone who sought the fair. You can not imagine our joy to sell all production in a few hours. Our managers are already turning to the community to catch more fish, fairs that must happen by December ", said the fisherman Edson Souza. The management of lakes in protected areas (UC) Amazon aims to stimulate growth and control of Arapaima stocks in lakes within the state.

The fair work from 7 am to 18h in the three days of the event, but due to the exhaustion of the stock was closed on Saturday (15). Community fairs promise more until December, on dates to be set.
