Abio alliance wins the tender to manage MDIC Amazon Biotechnology Center, a CBA

The Alliance for Bioeconomy Amazon (ABio), formed by a set of institutions devoted to the bio-economy in State of Amazonas, It was enabled first in the selection process of the Notice of Public Calling number 2/2018 the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC) to manage the Amazon Biotechnology Center (CBA). The conquest of the announcement was held on the afternoon of Friday (23), a news conference at the headquarters of the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS).

The CBA was established 15 years, administered by the Superintendency of the Manaus Free Zone (Suframa), and aims to promote research, development and innovation (PD&I) in biotechnology, focused on the sustainable use of Amazonian biodiversity.

The Alliance Abio is formed by leading institutions in PD&I Amazon: Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS), Federal University of Amazonas (I trust), State University of Amazonas (UEA) Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Amazonas (Ifam), Institute Leonidas and Maria Deane (Fiocruz Amazon), Amazonas State Technological Education Center (Cetam), Foundation Paul Feitoza (FPF), University Nilton Lins (UniNiltonlins), Network Innovation and Entrepreneurship Amazon (Rami), BioTec-Amazon Association, Institute for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Amazon (Idesam) and Network Biodiversity and Biotechnology of Amazonia (Bionorte).

The Abio strategy is to contribute to increasing the participation of sustainable productive activities based bio-economy GDP in the Amazon and promote science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. The investments planned by MDIC revolve around R $ 11 million annually, nos próximos cinco anos, contract may be extended in the future.
