FAS participates in a forum to discuss solutions to climate change on the planet

The Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) It was one of the institutions participating in the Climate Forum Sub-National, an event organized by the Brazilian Forum on Climate Change (FBMC), by Brazil on Climate Center (CBC) and the Institute Ondazul, in order to strengthen dialogue and engagement with state governments in favor of compliance with national goals of the Paris Agreement.

The event gathered in the city of Rio de Janeiro 11 Brazilian states and national and international experts to discuss the current situation and future perspectives on adaptation and mitigation of climate change. The forum said even with the support of the Association of Environmental State Entities, the Firjan, and partnership Climate and Society Institute (iCS) e do Climate Reality Project.

During the forum, governors sent through endorsements videos on how Brazilian states may act in relation to the Brazilian targets for reduction of climate change and, so, remain attached to the Paris Agreement and to contribute to the NDC (Contribuição Nacionalmente Determinada) Brazilian. The State of Amazonas is one of the states that officially support and participate in the sub-national climate governance board.

Among the panelists were the two former Ministers of the Environment Izabella Teixeira and Sarney Filho and participants as the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), Ethos, Braskem has, the Brazilian Association of Chemical Industry (Abiquim), o iCS, the Climate Observatory, the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and ICLEI (Local Governments for Sustainability).

The Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS) It has as one of its main missions reduce deforestation in the Amazon, conserve the environment and biodiversity and care of people living in the forest, actions that directly influence to the reduction of climate change in the Amazon region. The FAS is also one of the founders of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
