Two tons of tambaqui managed Sustainable Development Reserve (Reserve) Mamirauá, in the Middle Solimões region, serão vendidas em Manaus neste sábado (13), at the headquarters of the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS), The red Alvaro Braga, 351, Ten Park neighborhood, in the Central South zone of the capital, das 7h às 16h, ou até acabar o estoque. Prices will vary according to the size of the fish, from R $ 9 a R$ 17 o quilo.

The action, developed in partnership with FAS, allows the population of Manaus managed buy fish directly with producers, without the involvement of middlemen or distributors. The sale encourages the management of fish and generates income to fishers families living in coastal communities such as the RDS Mamirauá, a Conservation Unit (UC) where acts FAS, in strategic cooperation with the Secretary of State for the Environment (Sema).

The river tambaquis will be sold according to the weight by following a price list. The fish up 4,999 kg will be sold at R $ 9 o quilo; the fish 5 a 6,999 kilos the price paid will be R $ 11 / kg; from 7 a 10,999 kilograms the amount will be US $ 14 / kg; and weighing tambaquis 11 until 15,999 kg leave for $ 17 / kg.

Currently, the management of fish in protected areas (UC) Amazon is one of the most important activities to generate income to coastal communities and develop sustainably regions. All profits raised reverts to fishermen, stimulating fair trade and community empowerment.
