Sustainable turn brings culture, sports and environmental awareness to 25 thousand people in Manaus

Sustainability was the word which handled the weekend in Manaus. Pelo quinto ano consecutivo, the capital of Amazonas received the highest awareness festival on the theme in Latin America, Sustainable Turnaround, mobilizing about 25 thousand people in free activities scattered throughout the city, Friday (26) to sunday (28).

With the proposal to disseminate and expand information on sustainability, programming involved art, cultura, sport, bem-estar, education and leisure as tools to inspire people, companies and organizations to act to build a better city. When all, 22 points of Manaus served as the stage for more than 160 activities, carried out with the collaboration of about 350 volunteers and 57 institutions of the Creative Council upset.

"The Sustainable Turning presents a positive view, dynamic and cheerful on sustainability for the population. In addition to awareness, the preservation of the legacy left by the festival includes the donation of 500 tree seedlings, as part of a campaign to “smart” the city of Green. The goal is to draw up a map to show the locations receiving the trees.

Among promoted clean-ups, projects Cry D'Water and Environmental Remada collected about two tons of solid waste disposed irregularly in the waters of the Tarumã. Following this premise, diversity is not lacking among the actions promoted. In the cultural part, the highlight was the show's first national attraction in the history of the festival, in Manaus: singer-songwriter Para Dona Onete, known as Diva carimbó "chamegado", that filled the Largo São Sebastião, Saturday night (27), with a focused presentation on his latest work, o "Rebujo".

Elderlene Lima da Costa, from 45 years, living in precarious conditions with eight children in a house of three rooms, the St. Vincent de Paul Street. Based on the understanding that decent housing is essential for personal development and for a full life, the architect Sergio Santos, which acts as a volunteer in Reusa, He decided to help transform family reality, performing home improvement, in partnership with FAS and the Impact Hub Manaus. Redemption also received a painting campaign for houses and a graphite action, which involved community participation.

In the north, the project “our Neighborhood”, coordinated by Global Shapers Manaus network, helped people, voluntarily, to reform a community space on the Mount of Olives neighborhood. One of the main activities was the construction of an urban furniture in the space designated using the Plastijolo (brick made from plastic waste), Apart from local cleaning and painting.
